What is Eco-friendly car insurance and who is it really friendly too?

The growing concern of motorist’s environmental impact has led to the development of car insurance being marketed as ‘eco-friendly’. The idea is that insurers offering green policies will promise to offset 20 per cent of the driver’s carbon emissions.

This is a great idea, but it has been claimed that eco-friendly policies can cost up to 44 per cent more than a standard policy. Not so good for the consumer.

We recommend that you always shop around for any insurance and until eco-friendly policies are competitive, that you pass on any savings you make to a worthy eco-friendly cause of your choice.
