Classic Car Insurance |
Limited MileageIt is common on a classic car policy to define the maximum mileage you expect to cover over the insurance period. This usually ranges in increments from 1500 to 7500 miles, although some insurers offer higher or unlimited mileage options. You can expect to pay a higher premium, often significantly so for higher mileage limits, so if you can, keep your mileage down.
You will be asked to define your odometer reading when either renewing or taking out a policy and it’s important to understand the implications of falsifying your reading or exceeding it. In either of these cases an insurer may refuse to deal with any claim submitted and may seek to recover any cost they incurred from the third party claim from you.
However, if you think you will exceed your mileage limit, contact your insurance broker or company and for usually a modest additional premium, they will extend your mileage allowance.
