Classic Car Insurance |
Vehicle UseOwners of traditional vintage cars or classic cars have very different demands and uses for their vehicle compared that of a normal modern car owner. Firstly it will be cherished and loved, cared for and pampered, like their first born – as I’m sure many long suffering house wife’s will vouch for. It will also be a second car and used at the weekend or on a nice sunny day and certainly not used as the owners primary vehicle. As such it will also cover less miles.
This is all great news for insurers, because someone who takes pride in looking after their car and drives less miles, during quieter times of the day, is less likely to have an accident.
This is why owners of modern classic cars and performance cars can also benefit from classic car insurance. If it is your second car, cherished, with a limited number of miles being driven each year, (depending on your other rating factors e.g. location, age, occupation, driving history etc) insurance companies will often consider this as an acceptable risk.
If you plan to use your vehicle for commuting or business use, it will probably attract a higher premium, so keep it to social, domestic and pleasure use if you can.
For an additional charge, a classic car policy will can often cover vehicles used on a commercial basis for example weddings. It must only be on an occasional basis and should always be declared.
